Racine, Wisconsin — Twin Disc has taken the rugged functionality and robust design of its renowned TA90-8501 transmission and put it in a smaller, lighter weight package. The new Twin Disc TA90-7500 Series transmission will be introduced at this year’s Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, Texas. Designed to match engine life, the new 7500 Series automatic transmission consists of a 9-speed coaxial power-shift transmission and an advanced electronic control system, with a maximum gross input power rating up to 1939 kW (2600 hp) at 1900 RPM. Made in America, the 7500 features durable aluminum housings designed to reduce overall vehicle weight and help the vehicle meet over-the-road requirements. It weighs approximately 1100 lbs. less than the larger TA90-8501 and its compact size fits between mobile equipment frame rails. With an overall length of 1546 mm (61”), the 7500 provides a narrow footprint and its less complicated plumbing makes it an easier fit in the cramped confines of a fracturing rig. The smaller gear ratio steps of the 7500 match engine horsepower curves more efficiently than competitive units to deliver higher average power. And, the 7500 offers greater flexibility of PTO options with the capability of handling two live PTOs up to 149 kW (200 hp). The unit includes a torsional coupling. In most cases, standard engine oil may be used in the 7500 to simplify servicing requirements in the field. An automatic electronic oil level system is available. Twin Disc, Inc. designs and manufactures heavy-duty off-highway power transmission equipment for the energy, natural resources, government and industrial markets.
