Due to continued growth, we have an opportunity for a Planning Supervisor to join our team located at our Racine manufacturing facility.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering or Business, preferred
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Manufacturing Planning and Production control or related experience
- CPIM or CSCP certification desired
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for leading a team of production planners to effectively create and maintain an efficient demand and supply chain that ensures a production schedule to meet and exceed customer requirements. Collaborate with multiple departments to achieve manufacturing productivity and optimal inventory levels.
Computer Skills:
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of ERP systems; JDE preferred
- Demand Planning/Forecasting systems; Logility preferred
Communication Skills:
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills and listening skills that allow the ability to work with people at all levels of the organization
- Strong presentation skills in order to effectively communicate updates
- Management and team building skills
Work Environment:
- Racine, Wisconsin
Specialized Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of production planning and scheduling requirements with experience in ERP systems; JDE preferred
- Demand and supply chain planning system and process experience; Logility preferred
- Familiarization with assigned Twin Disc products and manufacturing processes
- Ability to identify and analyze operational data to solve unique and complex problems
Essential Job Duties
- Oversees and mentors a team of Production Planners to ensure a high level of proficiency and development, while performing assigned production planning activities.
- Participates in all facets of the SIOP (Sales, Inventory Operations Planning) process to provide an optimum OTD, inventory levels and capacity as defined by the organization’s business operating plans and strategic objectives.
- Partners with sales, customer service, engineering, procurement, and production to ensure the demand consensus process delivers an agreed upon, workable volume forecast; ensures gaps and overlaps are addressed, scenarios are completed and issues appropriately escalated to meet business objectives.
- Prepares all data metrics for review, identifies gaps and issues, guides final decision making on open items and trade-offs, and prepares action items to drive accountability and resolution.
- Analyzes supply and demand issues and facilitate resolution through the supply chain.
- Assists in quantifying and defining scope for capacity, resource, logistics, and supply chain planning.
- Maintains forecasts (Logility and ERP) and manages links between systems for forecasting, master production scheduling, inventory management.
- Creates a master production schedule while maintaining targeted inventory levels and optimizing production output.
- Creates and manages inventory plans by product code to achieve desired OTD and inventory goals
- Identifies and manages bottlenecks, capacity issues, and material problems with the manufacturing department and coordinates the resolution of the issues.
- Ensures the maintenance and accuracy of the ERP system, including material setup, work order and purchase order releases.
- Advises senior management of work in progress status, material availability and potential production problems to ensure resources are provided as needed to achieve production goals.
- Develops templates, metrics and reporting mechanisms to monitor production attainment, inventory effectiveness and on-time delivery. Reports variances changes to monthly or quarterly goals.
- Coordinates and monitors the performance of direct reports.
- Develops, implements, and identifies new tools and techniques for improving planning and scheduling processes.
- Supervises 1-3 employees to include normal management functions of interview and selection, work direction, training, goal setting and performance review.
