Commissioned by Jackup Barge, the Veth Propulsion team designed an innovative and transportable system specially designed to make these barges self-propelled. Veth Propulsion supplies four retractable L drives in an easily installable housing. These portable L-drives are fitted with four containers holding the diesel-electric power packs.

The four portable and retractable L drives are controlled fully automatically by the dual dynamic positioning system of the control container. Both engines and thrusters come in a variety of configurations, and are ideally suited for barge repositioning purposes. The Cy scan system or Dynamic Positioning System enables the barge to maintain its position at all times. The four independently operated Veth L drives each have a 360-degree range, for optimal barge positioning in all conditions. This unique Veth Propulsion system has been submitted to exhaustive testing, and has found its way to many satisfied Jackup Barge customers.
