As we approach the celebration of International Women’s Day, Twin Disc would like to spotlight some of the remarkable women who work for us around the globe! While she may be one of our newest employees, Kalaivani Thangavel is already a great representation of how anyone can #InspireInclusion. 

Kalaivani joined Twin Disc on February 1st, 2024, assuming the role of Test-Engineer Control Systems and becoming the first female engineer at Twin Disc India. Despite being a recent addition to the Twin Disc family, she highlighted qualities such as clear communication, feedback, appreciation, and flexibility as parts of the Twin Disc culture that have stood out to her stating, “When elements like this are present, employees are more likely to feel engaged, motivated, and committed to their work.” 

However, Kalaivani’s journey in the male-dominated world of engineering has not always been easy. Despite facing diversions, her unwavering dedication to her passion allowed her to remain steadfast. Reflecting on her experiences, Kalaivani offers sage advice to other women aspiring to similar career path: “Be strong in the decisions you make and always stay positive. Self-encouragement is a must to reach your goal.” 

Kalaivani’s message for International Women’s Day is clear: “Let’s reaffirm our commitment to promoting gender equality and inclusion in our workplace. Let’s challenge stereotypes, break down barriers, and advocate for policies and practices that ensure fairness and equity for all. Together, we can create a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of gender.”
