Shipping Manager

Due to continued growth, we have an opportunity for a Shipping Manager to join our team located at our Racine, WI manufacturing facility.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field with 5-8 years of experience in a shipping environment preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will execute, direct, and coordinate all shipments into and out of Twin Disc, Inc. as well as supervise the hourly shipping personnel that pack, wash, paint, and crate our product line. This role will also be responsible for the shipping of material and finished goods to Twin Disc facilities, distributors, and customers domestically and globally. This high energy role works cross-functionally with multiple areas of the plant including Operations, Quality, Sales, Customer Service, and Aftermarket to achieve monthly and quarterly company goals safely.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field with 5-8 years of experience in a shipping environment preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role preferred.

Computer Skills:

  • Working knowledge of production planning and scheduling processes with experience in ERP systems; JDE preferred
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups, including employees or customers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to present complex ideas, anticipate objections, and influence others to adopt a different view and/or approach.

Technical Requirements:

  • Knowledge of project management processes
  • Ability to apply lean/six sigma concepts in the work environment.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Supervisory experience, including coaching, directing, and motivating associates.
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA/Safety requirements and appropriate Environmental standards

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing facility with frequent presence on the plant floor

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Thorough knowledge of machining processes
  • Assembly of transmissions, powertrain products
  • International shipping experience preferred
  • Familiar with forward shipper documentation, such as commercial invoices and shippers letter of intent (SLI), and country of origin (COO)

Job Duties Include:

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable, and supporting all Environmental Health and Safety standards and goals. Performs incident and accident investigations as required.
  • Responsible for managing the flow of finished product and material between plants and customers in an efficient and responsible manner to meet monthly and quarterly deadlines, partnering with business partners to act proactively, sharing feedback and solutions with the appropriate business partners when challenges are presented.
  • Responsible for department purchasing functions, including shipping materials and assist with budget planning. Ensures team delivers daily on site KPI expectations and improves related to those KPI’s.
  • Responsible for managing freight claims and vehicle fleet operations plus annual bidding.
  • Reviews employee performance and develops his team through one-on-one coaching, training on policy and procedures, helping in problem resolution when required, and leading by example.
  • Responsible for the completion of Skill Based Pay evaluations.
  • Drives engagement, retention, and creates a culture that embodies Twin Disc core values.
  • Attends and takes part in Daily Management Meeting (DMM) and proactively provides appropriate updates to site leadership regarding escalations to effectively resolve issues.
  • Supervises 5-10 employees.
