Diesel-direct driven Veth thrusters have a built-in clutch, with its controls integrated into the Veth Control System; a compact solution which makes the thruster easier to install.

Operation

Within the Compact Jet bow thruster unit lies a marvel of engineering – a rotating directional housing that offers unparalleled control over thrust direction. Mounted atop the unit is a gearbox housing the propeller transmission gearing, alongside a steering gearbox meticulously designed for noise-free right-angle transmission.

Even under full power and maximum propeller RPM, the housing effortlessly rotates a full 360°, thanks to a compact gearbox design and minimal exterior pipework. Critical components such as the transmission and drive shaft bearings benefit from oil-bath and injection lubrication, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.

Equipped as standard with a 4-blade NiAl bronze propeller, the Compact Jet facilitates seamless inspections, maintenance, and propeller replacements, often without requiring dry dock facilities. With minimal hose connections, removal from its housing is swift, facilitated by a hoist.

The principle behind the Compact Jet is elegantly simple yet highly effective: water is drawn in at an angle from beneath the vessel by the propeller, then smoothly deflected away through the hydrodynamically streamlined housing. Integrated into a rotating structure, the housing allows for forceful thrust in any desired direction, ensuring efficient propulsion with minimal noise and draft.

In addition to its primary role as a bow thruster, the Veth Compact Jet excels as a propulsion system, offering maximum thrust in any position while eliminating vulnerable protruding parts beneath the hull. Already applied successfully in creating self-propelled barges, this versatile solution epitomizes the pinnacle of marine engineering innovation.

Ballast Pump

Are you looking for a pump that pumps large amounts of (ballast) water with minimal power? Then the Veth Ballast Pump is a good solution for you.

This pump, developed by Veth Propulsion, can be used in two directions of rotation. Unique in this application is that the piping is reduced to an absolute minimum.

With any bow thruster you have the option to order a ballast pump to go with it.
