The idea for Arneson Surface Drives was conceived by Howard Arneson in the mid to late 1970’s to satiate his desire for a faster, more reliable propulsion system that would hold up under rugged ocean racing conditions. Production began in the early 1980’s and shortly after vessels across racing circuits began seeing immediate results upon implementation. Twin Disc acquired Arneson Surface Drives in 1992 and made them available for non-racing applications – pleasure craft, commercial vessels as well as military applications.
