Veth Propulsion Launches ELITE™ Yacht Propulsion System

Papendrecht (NL) – During the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2023, Veth Propulsion launched the new ELITE™ yacht propulsion system. Based on years of experience and fine-tuned for optimal performance, ELITE™ is a 360° thruster dedicated to the needs of modern yachting. Sea trials for a number of renowned customers over the past months have been successful and confirm expectations.

Combining the best in Rolla’s “S” Class Propellers and Veth’s Contra Rotating technology with the successful Veth Integrated L-drive thruster, the ELITE™ series offers a wide range of benefits. Advantages include increased efficiency, extreme manoeuvrability, ultra-low noise and lower vibration levels, combined with a compact build-in height that frees up space and offers flexibility in design.

Compact yet Effective

The additional space resulting from the ELITE™ thrusters gives designers more freedom in laying out other features. The increased room can be used to expand the recreational facilities onboard – offering, for example, a bigger beach club. Or it can contribute to increased storage space for additional toys and tenders. Ultimately, the result is an enhanced yachting experience for those onboard.

Improvements not only benefit marine ecosystems but also significantly enhance the onboard experience, serving as a reward for environmental stewardship. The thrusters, for example, are electrically driven, which not only ensures minimal underwater noise but also increases comfort onboard.

Tested to Perfection
ELITE™ has been tested extensively, using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and performance testing in the tank basin at MARIN (Marine Research Institute Netherlands). Based on these results, the technology has been optimized, focusing on the smallest details to increase efficiency and further reduce noise and vibration. Navneet Chadna, R&D Hydrodynamic Engineer, Veth Propulsion, states: “We’ve minimized pressure pulses on the hull by employing this design, which benefits from project-specific designed propellers, the headbox’s shape, and many other optimizations.”

The ELITE™ thrusters have quickly proved successful, being awarded multiple orders. There are now several yachts sailing with ELITE™ with feedback demonstrating proven experience in use.
